03/13/13 -Scrap Your Story Challenge #2

For the current challenge over at "Scrap Your Story"; Challenge #2: Animals.
I was going to scrap a pic of one of my REAL animals but I have been having some major issues w/ my internet and I just haven't been in the mood to do much in the way of scrapping unless it is easy.  If I had scrapped my pets, I would have had to print out pics to scrap whereas w/ this layout I already had these pics printed.

I know that sounds so lazy but Dealing w/ my internet provider and all the problems has worn me out! Plus I started working out again...which is great, but yeah I'm tired!

So today's post is short and to the point.

Here is my layout inspired by the challenge:

"Snoopy and Joseph"

The "Peanuts" PP I have had in my stash since my 11 year old daughter was still in diapers! I bought 4 of them: 2 of this pattern and 2 of another pattern. I used 1 of each so far and the other 2 I had been hoarding because I can't get them anywhere anymore. Obviously these pics were the perfect reason to dig them out of my stash!

Oh before I forget I used this sketch for my layout:

03/07/13 - SIT #104 & SIWAS

Hi all!
I recently noticed that my DT blog posts for "Sketches in Thyme" and "Scrap It With A Song" are always on the same day.

As is the case w/ today...
So this means I am plugging 2 blogs in one post; a two-for-one kinda deal.

First up is "Sketches In Thyme".
Here is the new sketch for this week:

 "Sketch #104"

And my creation:

"Panini Gram"
Journaling: Panini is a frequent subject of my Instagram pictures. These are
a few of my favorite ones.

When I saw the sketch I immediately thought it would be perfect to scrap a group of random pictures that I had on Instgram of my daughter's kitty! However, I didn't realize how much room the pics would take up! I'm not upset though because the pics are super cute, but it did throw off the original design of the sketch. I was a bit disappointed that the giant circle was covered up so much so I added a little circle at the bottom to help remedy that a bit.  I wanted to use girly colors since Panini is a girl kitty but I didn't want to overwhelm the neutral color scheme of the pics. I found these muted red, pink, and tan papers in a 12x12 "Fall Stack" pad of papers that I have had in my stack for YEARS!! They are girly but not TOO girly! I have never had a use for them before but I like the way they look here!
I am thinking I may go back and write the dates of each of the pics on the back of the layout just so I have them for future reference.
My daughter loved my layout except for the "I love my kitty!" sticker... She thought the sticker was cute but she pointed out that Panini is not my kitty; Panini is hers.  So I told her, "I'm sorry but they didn't have a 'I love my daughter's kitty' sticker". She then told me to make sure I let everybody know that Panini is her kitty...

*Attn readers: Panini is Madison's kitty*

Hope that is sufficient., LOL!

Okay onto my 2nd layout.
This one is for "Scrap It With A Song"

We are using songs w/ colors in them as the inspiration songs for March.
This week's song challenge is "Lady in Red" by Chris De Burgh.

Here is my layout:

"Lady In Red and Pink"
Journaling: "Lately I've been taking a lot of selfies.
Some actually come out pretty good!
But not as good as the ones teenagers take"

As you read in my journaling, I have been trying out "selfies", as in taking pictures of myself.  I have been realizing more and more that I need to have more of "me" in the family albums, If this means that I need to take the pics myself, I am okay w/ it. I'm still not proficient, but I'm working at it! I don't understand how teenagers always get such good shots of themselves! Now I just need to work on my "duck-face"! LOL! JK

I've also been trying to get better at misting. I used it on my last 2 layouts, in different ways, and now this one as well.  I find I'm better at misting w/ a mask. For this layout I made a mask by punching holes in a piece of cardstock. I'm pretty happy w/ the outcome and am proud that I'm branching out a bit!

Okay, okay, enough about me!
It's your turn to give one or both of the challenges a whirl!
As always w/ these challenges, you have until the end of the month to share your creations w/ us!
Hope to see you play along!

03/06/13 - Childs Play Challenges

Hello!
Today I am sharing my layout for the latest challenge over at Child's Play Challenges .
This week we are asking you to create a project inspired by Sesame Street.
Here is a picture to help you out:

I loved Sesame Street when I was a little girl!!!
I was born in Spain and came to the United States after I had already learned to speak, Spanish being my native language, and Sesame Street helped me to learn English!
Cool, right?

Here is what I was inspired to create:

This Layout Brought 2 U By the Letter "C"

The parts of my layout that were inspired by the challenge =
The title
The colorful letters in the title
The "Zoe" sticker
 and the
"Hello My Name Is"

Unfortunately the layout didn't come together as well as I had envisioned it.  In fact it was a P.I.T.A. to create (excuse my language, LOL)!!!
Oh well, sometimes that happens and it really doesn't help to dwell on it.
I just need to move on to the next layout.

How 'bout you?
Feeling inspired?
We would all love it if you stopped by CPC and shared your creation w/ us.
Remember if you do you may win a Guest Design Team spot!

Thanks for stopping by!!

03/04/13 - 5 Challenges

Good Monday morning to you!
Hope you had a fabulous weekend!

Today I am sharing a layout that I had a lot of fun making and that wound up satisfying 5 challenges!

As a blog reader and DT member I come across a lot of posts where the author has shared a layout and then included a list of all the challenges it satisfies.  Some of those lists are LONG!

I have finally given myself the "approval" to stack challenges, but even w/ that I find it hard to incorporate more than 1 or 2 on a layout.
Not sure why exactly.
I think most of the time I just forget to.

I created this layout yesterday morning:

"This Pic"
Journaling: "Christmas 2010.
Not a very "Christmasy" picture but there's just something about
the way Madison looks in it that I love!"

I went a little "crazy" making it, but it was so much fun!

And this is the list of Challenges it satisfies:
SB.com Challenges -
> March "Leftovers" challenge - everything on here is a leftover including the BG paper which has a hole in it that I covered w/ my pic and all my goodies.

> March "5 Ingredients" challenge - ingredients:
1. Pink ("beautiful" sticker)
2. Distressed (snowflakes)
3. Texture (snowflakes, brads)
4. Layer (all elements of the layout were layered)
5. Large Letters (the letters in the word "Pic")

> March "4 Categories" challenge -
Category #1/Product - Alphas: use alphas from at least 2 different packs.
Also completed the twist which is to use letters in an unusual way; i.e. not in a word. I used 2 red "x"s to mimic stitching on my journaling box.

Blog Challenges -
> Twisted Tuesdays: Use brads or buttons and paper piercing. I used brads so techinically my paper was "pierced" when I put them on my page"

>Scrap Your Story: Scrap 1 photo

5 total.
And if you think that's impressive, that's nothing compared to what I have seen during on my blog-reading rounds!

TFSB!

03/27/23 Planning with Urban Journal Season Ink

My printer was having issues and I fixed it but during the interim I was not scrapping and lost my mojo ::le sigh:: But I've still been ...
