06/26/17 - "Brand New Car"

Hi!
Happy Monday!
How was your weekend?
If it was anything like mine your answer is: "Great, but it went by too fast!"

Well I'm not a huge fan of Mondays but sometimes, posting my latest layout makes me a bit happier so here it is:

"Brand New Car"

Journaling:
"6.20.17 Joseph buys his first brand new car: a 2017 Nissan Sentra!
And because of his great credit, he didn't need a co-signer and got 0% interest!
Not bad for a 22 yr old. Good job son!"

I didn't think I'd have time to scrap this weekend though I REALLY wanted to.
But I MADE time because I was excited to scrap these photos and because it's almost the end of June and I scrapped this for a couple of June challenges:

> Instagram - the 2nd Challenge for the JamFox Crafters' Collaboration - June Edition
Challenge = Black and White and 1 Other Color
I chose Turquoise (in varying shades)

> SB.com June Music Challenge:
#2 - Song Title
I choose "Brand New Car" by the Rolling Stones

Sometimes you just gotta make the time, amirite?
Hope you have a great day (and week)!

06/22/17 - "22"

My son Joseph just celebrated his 22nd birthday on 6/14.
I'm impressed that I already have the layout done, especially since I still haven't done anything w/ daughter's birthday photos from January!
To be fair, I took a lot more photos of her birthday and I'm a Single-Page layout kinda scrapper.

Anyway here is the layout for Joseph's Birthday:

"22"
Journaling:
"-Lunch Buffet at El Torito w/ David *(complete w/ Margarita!)*
-Cupcakes instead of a cake, as requested (Double Chocolate Devotion Ice Cream cupcakes from Cold Stone Creamery)
-A "Happy Birthday" candy bar w/ a $100 bill attached (though it took you a while to notice!)
-Dinner out w/ a friend
Happy 22nd Birthday!
06/14/2017"

*Need to go back and add this bit of journaling*

This layout is nothing fancy...
I just wanted to achieve 2 goals: use all 4 of these photos on 1 layout and finally use that "Me & My Big Ideas" Party PP that I've had in my stash so long it's actually worn out looking IRL, LOL
GOALS MET!

Created mainly for the following June SB.com Challenges:

>Foodie
Includes both twists:
1) Birthday
2) Summer (my son's B-day is in Summer)

>National _______ Day
Inspired by June 7th - National Chocolate Ice Cream Day
Those cupcakes are Double Chocolate ice cream cupcakes

*Fun fact: Whenever I do a Birthday Layout I usually journal in a list format.
It just seems easier to fit all the highlights of the day that way.

Anybody else do this?

06/19/17 - "National Puppy Day"

Hi!
Just another layout from me today; my mojo has been in over drive and I'm trying my best to use it while I have it!

"National Puppy Day"

Journaling:
"Spotty may not be a puppy anymore but he is still our baby!
3/23/17"

IDK how old Spotty is, but he's definitely not a puppy!
We inherited him when Madison was around 3 years old; she's now 15!

He is the sweetest dog!

Speaking of "sweet"... see that "sweet" in the photo of Spotty and my husband?  It's not a sticker, it's part of our "Home Sweet Home" sign in our living room that just happened to be in the photo when I took it; what a "sweet" coincidence!

For the following June SB.com challenges:

>Hoarders
26 items
-BG paper
-Striped Photo Mat PP
-Alphas (16)
-Words/Phrases (4)

06/14/17 - "Summer Hair 2017"

Hi there!
Just sharing 1 of my latest layouts:

"Summer Hair 2017"
Journaling:
"Look Out Summer, I'm coming for you!
Short hair, don't care!
Hair cut inspired by Jennifer Lawrence's hair in "Passengers".
I'm a Happy Camper!
6.10.17"
.
.
.
.
Story behind the photos/topic:
I recently watched the movie "Passengers" and the whole time I was watching it I kept thinking, "Gosh, I just love Jennifer Lawrence's hair!"
Well, that and that it was a good movie, LOL!
Coincidentally I watched the movie a few days before my next hair appointment.
So the next day I texted my hair dresser and asked her if we would have time to cut my hair as I was just planning to touch up the color.
She said yes and so, the day of the appointment, this happened!
And I absolutely love it!
.
.
.
.
Story behind the layout:
A couple of posts ago I mentioned I joined "The Scrap Room" a monthly Scrapbook Kit Club:
(see Chosen One)
I finally received my first and I love it!
The kits comes w/ four individually packed layout kits and I used some of one of them to create this layout.

Here's a look at the June kit (photo courtesy of "The Scrap Room" website:)

.
.
.
.
Besides the kit I was inspired by a couple of different challenges:

 ---- Instagram Challenge:
The JamFox Crafters Collaboration - June Edition
First Challenge is to "incorporate a rainbow of color onto your project"

---- SB.com June Challenge:
>National ________ Day
June 21st - National Selfie Day
Though I don't need a "National Day as an excuse for a Selfie
... if you're a long time follower, you already knew that, LOL!

06/12/17 - MIM #90

Here we go again!
But this is a good "here we go again"!

MIM Sketch #90

 "Breakfast 6.3.17"
Journaling:
"Love it when my coffee mug color coordinates w/ my breakfast!
Coffee and a (65g) slice of Strawberry Krunch Cake 165 calories.
6.3.17"

I'm a foodie!
I love food and trying new foods and talking about food and taking pictures of food and..
well you get the idea!

I'm thinking of buying a Travelers Notebook or something similar to scrap these photos so I don't have tons of 12x12 layouts w/ just 1 photo on them, LOL
But in this case it works!

I have had that BG paper in my stash forever + infinity!
I loved it but never knew what to do w/ it but it just felt perfect for this photo, though I would NEVER have thought of scrapping a food photo w/ it!
But the pre-printed cluster at the bottom left reminded me of the title area of the sketch and it would required no additional work except adding the title so as a "lazy" scrapper, I was sold, LOL

You have until June 30th to join in on the fun!

06/08/17 - "Saved"

If you have a cat you've probably been surprised once or twice, or 100 times, by their little "gifts"!
Panini has brought us lizards, birds and even a gopher! YIKES!

But lets talk about the birds...the species she most likes to "gift" us w/!
I can't even recall just how many dead birds I have found in my house because of her.
I have found them mostly in the corner of my kitchen but have also found one in my bathroom and have stepped on one in the dark in my bedroom!
Yup, life is very exciting with a cat!

Which leads me to my layout:

"Saved"

Journaling:
"Just rescued this little guy out of my cat's mouth, literally!
I love my cat, Panini, but she kills way too many birds for my "animal-loving" heart to handle!
5.6.17"

I saw Panini walking across the yard w/ something in her mouth.
When I realized it was a bird I rushed over to her and yanked it out of her mouth.
She was NOT happy about it!
The bird was still alive and except for a little bit of blood on his back and blood around his eye he looked fine.
I washed off the blood.
When I washed off the blood from his eye I was happy to discover it was still intact!
I held him for a bit, petting him and allowing him to calm down, then I walked him outside and placed him, up high, on the birdhouse we have in the backyard.
He stood there for a bit getting his bearings (I assume) and then flew away, to the roof of our house.
All the rest of that day, and even now,  I wonder how he's doing? I wonder if Panini wound up catching him again later and "finished the job"!
I'd like to think/pretend he's fine.
But a few days later Panini brought in another dead bird so who knows ::sigh::

06/05/17 - MIM Sketch #89

Happy Make it Monday to you!
Here is Sketch #89 from the "The Memory Nest" Blog:

"Sunday Funday May Edition"

Journaling: "On Sundays David and I like to go out for a nice lunch and dessert"

This is pretty much a routine for David and I.
We eat well, low-cal, and pretty much "healthy" all week long so that on Sunday's we can enjoy a large very delicious meal and dessert w/out it affecting us either weight or health-wise.
It is quite fun and of course, YUMMY!
For those who follow my IG Food Account I'm always preaching "Balance" and this is part of our Balance.

I'm sure you're thinking, other than the circle on the left-hand side, this doesn't look too much like the sketch, and at first glance, yes you're correct... but if you pay attention to the way I place all the elements on the right-hand side, you will see that I kind of  mimicked the sketches down-ward angle shape.
I was having a lot of trouble trying to get my photos to look good side by side (as opposed to up and down) especially w/ the added element of that shaped BG so I decided to just do w/out either. I did add a card that is divided by color into 2 triangles so there's THOSE triangles to help tie my layout into the sketch.

And then I just had fun adding bits and pieces here to give the layout more "eye-candy" as well as to use up some of my stash items.
There are only 4 "newish" items on here... everything else is at least 1 year old or much, much older!

You have until 06/30/17 to submit your layout based on this sketch; hope you join us!

06/03/17 - "Chosen One"

I just recently joined the Monthly Kit Club from The ScrapRoom and though I have not yet received my first kit, I have been browsing their website and blog and discovered they have a sketch challenge each month.
I liked their June Sketch so decided to play and it was very inspiring!

I used their sketch w/ a few small modifications, one being that I turned it on it's side:

SKETCH

"Chosen One"

I got a kick out of the cartoon when I saw it on Instagram; it's so true! And a few days after seeing it, Panini just happened to jump on my lap for "some love" and I knew I had to take a photo of her and use it along w/ the cartoon on a layout!

This layout came together pretty quick thanks mainly to the sketch!  I also liked that I was able to use up a lot of old product.
Everything on here is a hoarded item and/or scrap, except for 2 things: the BG paper and the "adore" sticker I wrote the date on.
