07/24/17 - "(It's Your) Birthday Suit"

Another Monday, another layout...
I hope that's a phrase I can utter often because that would mean I got to scrap over the weekend...
which makes me very happy!

(It's Your) Birthday Suit

FYI - It WASN'T his birthday I was just using "It's Your Birthday (Suit)" to be funny!

Journaling:
"That moment when you go from looking like "Sonic the Hedgehog" to a "Naked Mole Rat", LOL!
Top photo was on 3.25.16 when Hamlet had a full body of thick hair. Bottom photo was on 7.16.16 after he lost it all, which is actually referred to as "Blowing Their Coat" in the Piggy World"

This layout was mainly inspired by the July SB.com Challenge I am Hosting:
"National ___________ Day"
I was specifically inspired by July 14th - National Nude Day

BTW - If you are interested in learning more about the "Coat Blowing" see this FAQ:

07/17/17 - MIM #92

"Make It Monday" Sketch #92 is up live and ready to inspire!

I had a lot of fun w/ this sketch!
Hope you do too!
You have until July 30th to submit your entry to "The Memory Nest".

MIM #92

"OUCH!"

Journaling:
"They grow up so fast!
Nose and Industrial Barbell Piercings for my baby girl...
who is no longer a baby. :sniff:
Both fit her look/personality so well!
She didn't even flinch with the barbell but got a little bit teary-eyed with the nose piercing.
Her dad and I almost hurled with both, bahahaha! #TrueStory
06/04/17"

I have my nose pierced; got it done about 2 years ago.
I have also had my belly button pierced, though it's been since removed, and I have 2 sets of piercings in my ears.
So you would think it'd be no big deal for me for my daughter to get piercings.
And it wasn't, I mean the concept wasn't... I can accept that she's growing up...barely...
But, OMG actually seeing her get pierced, knowing someone was placing 3 holes into my daughter, aside from just a regular ear piercing that I had her get as a baby, it... it LITERALLY made me sick to my stomach. In fact as I write this and remember it, I'm getting sick to my stomach again, LOL

Anyway, she loves it and it fits her so well and makes her so happy that I love it too!
Even her dad, the biggest critic about these type of things, thinks it looks great on her!
But yeah, the growing up part he's not so cool w/!

07/12/17 - June "Ugly Paper" Challenge

Hi, it's "Ugly Paper" time again!

First a reminder of the rules (you can skip this part if you already know them):

1. After signing up, the host gives your name and address to another participant
2. The other participant sends you 2 "ugly" papers and at least one ugly embellishment
3. You MUST use both papers; the embellishment(s) is optional
4. You are allowed to use other items as well, as long as the 2 "ugly" papers are included in the layout
5. You are allowed to alter the papers and, if used, the embellishment(s) but they must still be recognizable

"June Uglies"

"Turok"

Journaling:
"We took Madi out to see Cirque Du Soliel's new "Avatar" inspired show Turok; Joseph was out of town.
Unfortunately we weren't impressed.
The scenery was gorgeous but the story and action was boring!
Well, at least we had Family Time.
11.5.16"

(I realized after I scanned and uploaded the layout that I forgot to fix the "year" on the date. I had originally wrote '17 so I whited it out so I can fix it to '16, but forgot to fix it, LOL. It's been fixed IRL though)

Both the ugly papers are there:
I used the "Tie Dye" PP for all my circles (3 Total) and the "Tree Branch" PP for all my triangles (3 Total).
I also used 2 of the 3 ugly embellishments:
The large "@" sign which was beige but I sprayed it an iridescent teal color AND the pink jeweled border under the photos.

It was a challenge but as usual a fun challenge.

Until next time...

I created this layout this past weekend and I love it...
so of course I'm sharing it...

"In The Middle"

Journaling:
"David sent me these photos while I was at work: 1. to make me jealous and 2. to say 'Don't know how I fit but I was in the middle, LOL!' - July 14th, 17"

The journaling pretty much explains the entire story behind this layout.

07/06/17 - July "Round Robin" Challenge

 The  Scrapbook.com "Round Robin Challenge":

"There are teams of 4 people, one person for each week, similar to a relay race. The person assigned for week 1 in each group will start their team off with a layout depending on what the specs and twist will be. Then the following week, everyone assigned to week 2 will lift off their week 1 team member and so on. It's fun to see how a lift progresses from the first week to the fourth."

On this edition of "Round Robin" I was player #1 and we were assigned a "Mood Board" for our inspiration:

Though I know Mood Board Challenges are popular, I've never actually played along w/ them.
I was a little nervous, especially since I was the first one on my team.
I was mainly nervous because I tend to take challenges like this way to literal...which is why I never play along on my own.

But eventually I had to tell myself to stop over thinking it and just focus on what stood out to me and this is what I came up w/:

"Ginger Spice"

Journaling:
"Joseph wanted to lighten his dark hair; over the years it went from blonde to dark brown. He used a blonde boxed dye and I warned him it would lighten but not be blonde. This is what happened. He loves it! I love it and I jokingly call him Ginger Spice though he prefers Peter Pan. 6.18.17"

Can you figure out what I was inspired by?
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
I was inspired by the photo of the girl showing off her hair (style) and the photo of the wedding invitation in the shape of a large hexagon: thus I chose to scrap my son's (new) hair (color) and use hexagons as a design element.

Though it's a simple layout I actually really like it!
I guess I can handle mood boards after all...
Tell me, have you ever played along w/ a mood board?

07/02/17 - MIM #91

Hello!
Today I bring you MIM Sketch #91 from the "The Memory Nest" blog:

"Krusty Land"

Journaling:
"Took a Wednesday off to enjoy one last visit to Universal Studios before our Annual Passes expired.
These are just random photos from "Krusty Land". 1.4.17"

As you can see I went in a totally different direction w/ my layout while still keeping the basic theme of the original sketch: the circles!
TBH I didn't plan my weekend very well to include some quality crafty time and I had 2 layouts to get done for 2 different Monday reveals, so I had to keep things simple.
My lack of time also explains why the coloring of the photo of the layout is a bit off; had trouble taking a good photo of it as I completed it after daylight was almost gone...
but you get the idea.

::Note to Self -- Work on Better Time Management::

Anyway...
Instead of cutting/punching out circles for my layout I decided to go w/ paper w/ circles already on it.
And the colors of this paper match our "Krusty Land" photos so well I decided to use more than 1 photo.

I had been struggling w/ these photos because there isn't too much of a story behind them.
But I realize that not all pages have to have a "story" per se...sometimes it's nice just to scrap photos because you like them!

Please join us in telling your story... or non-story...
You have until July 31st.

03/27/23 Planning with Urban Journal Season Ink

My printer was having issues and I fixed it but during the interim I was not scrapping and lost my mojo ::le sigh:: But I've still been ...
